weekender: denim & corduroy

Cords: Urban Outfitters. Shirt: Zara. Jacket: Lucky Brand. Shoes: Vans. Clutch: Zara (sale). Necklace: Tiffany&Co. Watch: Kate Spade. Bracelet: Marc Jacobs.

So this look is a must for all weekenders. (which is all of you, just saying') I totally love the weekends where all you do is clean, grocery shop, hang out with your hubs, do normal everyday things mixed with a little coffee run, fro-yo stop, or Target shopping. Sometimes the basic, "average joe" type of weekends are just enough. We all need a couple days to relax, rejuvenate, and laugh. Side note: I was being incredibly hard to work with during this shoot because I kept laughing and striking really ridiculous poses that probably should have been captured. TGIF. Let's all strike a pose and crack ourselves up. Because that's totally normal right? Especially behind buildings? Thought so.

wine + utility

Jeans: Paige Denim. Turtleneck: H&M. Jacket: Free People. Shoes: Target. Bag: Kate Spade. Necklace:

Through these, what I like to call "weird weather months" here in Southern California, it is difficult to pinpoint how warm to dress. It'll be beautiful and sunny, but a little breeze makes me shiver. Don't get me wrong, I love Southern California in all of it's warmness, but I also love layering. I seriously have not worn a turtleneck shirt in so long! I decided to take the tiny leap with this thin burgundy one from H&M. Pairing it with minimal jewels, staple pieces (like some comfy leopard flats and the perfect denim jeans), and a light utility jacket to add some interest is definitely working for me.
Hope you all are having a great week!

One year

It is Jarrett and my one year anniversary! It's crazy to think about how fast time flies, but here we are at the one year of marriage mark and it feels incredible. We have definitely gone through a lot of changes and adapting, but it is a joy to be married to this man. He makes me smile constantly and he is so caring. We met back in the summer of 2009 (the first photo) and now five years later celebrating our first wedding anniversary. Truly a strange feeling. Love, love, love.

Friday Favorites: Pretty Pastels

pastels

one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / eight / nine / ten

Spring is fast approaching here in Southern California. I know many of you are living in snow and very cold weather, but hey maybe a little Spring dreaming will brighten your day! I love the Spring trends because they are typically ultra feminine and often ladylike. Seriously, these pastel mint and pale pink are too good. I am currently dying over the TopShop crop top and skirt. Need. It is so fun to stay up on trends and to experiment with new things. I also threw in a little Etsy print with its soft floral background to remind you of some simple daily values to live by. I always view Spring as new beginnings, Spring cleaning, and rejuvenating yourself. Why not do all these things while wearing pale pink and pastels, right?!
P.S. I think we need a to have a tea party.

black and fringe

Maxi dress: Target. Bag: Kate Spade. Booties: Target. Necklace: Forever21. Bracelets: Vintage.

Let's face it. Life is hard. So is marriage. So is school. Sometimes you just gotta throw on a black maxi and go with it. [Side note: it is a bad idea to wear black maxi dresses around dogs....especially my little one, who you can see here, here, and here]. I had dog hair like all over me, literally. Pretty bad, but that's why we have lint rollers, duh! Because when it comes to black cotton dresses and dogs, we can never only choose one.
Anyways, I'm in one of those moods where I seem to just rant about anything and everything. I feel like when life gets chaotic or stress levels are on the rise, we all just need to wear long, dark maxis and fringe and silver jewelry, lots of it. Check and double check.

All-American

Shirt: H&M. Jeans: Lamb&Flag. Shoes: Target. Clutch: Zara. Watch: Kate Spade.

It's funny how I put on a shirt covered in stars and some red lipstick and suddenly I'm feelin' all-American. Truly, red, white, blue, stars, and fringe booties.. Done. Texan? I wish. Oh and guess what?! It just so happens to be President's Day today! And I've got an outfit to match. Boom.

By the way, you are awesome.

Last year a bride, this year a bridesmaid

My older brother and his now wife just got their wedding posted on the wonderful wedding blog, Green Wedding Shoes! They had such a fun and different wedding and gave my husband and I the honor of being a part of their special day. As I have just wrapped up my own wedding posts, now you can head over to check our their big day style and see me as a bridesmaid! Just a quick note: I adored my rich, burgundy velvet dress and the groomsmen (especially my husband haha) looked amazingly handsome. The woodsy, earthy, unique style of their day translated beautifully on camera. Plus the abundance of love and joy in the air!

Check out their gorgeous post HERE.

Our Wedding / Part 4

Reception

The final wedding post is here! Reliving this entire day, photo by photo, has been so lovely. I am so in love with this man. He is everything I need and I am so incredibly blessed to have him as my husband. It will be exactly one year on February 24th. Cannot wait to celebrate our first anniversary.
